Zurich is the largest economic and cultural center of Switzerland, and at the same time, thanks to the unique combination of landscape and architecture, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Comfortably located between two mountains, the city rises like an amphitheater along the slopes and, as if cut in the middle by the Limmat River, opens up on both sides of Lake Zurich with its best facades. In good weather, a panorama of the Swiss Alps shining with snow soars above the horizon behind the lake.
On the left bank of the Limmat River there are modern shopping districts, and on the right - the historical center with old houses standing on narrow streets, which we will visit during the excursion. We will be lucky enough to see the Town Hall building, the famous Gothic Fraumunster Church, decorated with five stained glass windows created by Marc Chagall himself. Before their installation in 1970, Fraumunster was known only for its unusual architecture — the "one-headed" church was not built according to the canon. With the appearance of stained glass windows, the Gothic cathedral gained world fame. The master worked on the creation of stained glass windows for two years and, despite his advanced age — by the time the work was completed, Chagall was already 83 years old — he not only made sketches, but also processed the glass surface himself. Next, we will visit one of the symbols of the city - Grossmunster, go to the northern shore of Lake Zurich and visit Bahnhofstrasse, where according to legend the Frog Moat was previously located.
