Day 1
Flight Riga-Malaga ~12:40-16:20.
Departure to the hotel on the Costa del Sol coast.
Check-in, rest.
Costa del Sol (translated from Spanish as "Sunny Coast") - Considered the southernmost Mediterranean coast of Spain, where well-maintained, picturesque beaches with yellow sand are located. The climate of the coast is considered one of the best in Spain.
Day 2
Breakfast.
Rest at sea.
In the afternoon, excursion to Granada.
Excursion in Granada.
Granada is located in an amazing area, at the foot of the northeastern slope of the Sierra Nevada. Granada stands on three hills descending into the valley where the Genil River and its tributary Darro flow steadily. According to legend, it was these hills, resembling an open pomegranate, that gave the city its name - Granada. Only in this city do landscapes of extraordinary beauty, buildings of ancient architecture and white quarters of new buildings amazingly harmoniously combine. Granada is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Its architecture, history and traditions combined with an unusual natural landscape delight tourists.
Free time.
Return to the hotel.
Day 3
Breakfast.
Rest at sea or optional excursion to Gibraltar (surcharge 49 €).
Gibraltar is a tiny territory with an area of only about 6.5 km², administered by the United Kingdom. This corner of Southern Europe surprisingly combines the English spirit and Andalusian flavor: red telephone booths, British currency and cozy pubs create the feeling that you have been transported to London, only under the gentle Mediterranean sun.
A city tour will introduce you to its unique atmosphere, rich history and culture.
One of the highlights will be a visit to the Alameda Botanical Garden — a green oasis with exotic plants, palms and cacti, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll.
A special highlight is the meeting with the inhabitants of the Rock, the Barbary macaques, the only wild and tailless monkeys in Europe. No less impressive is the visit to the famous St. Michael's Cave, where an impressive light show takes place.
This excursion will give unforgettable impressions: from a walk through cozy streets and green gardens to breathtaking views from the legendary Rock. Gibraltar is a place where history, myths and nature merge together, leaving a bright mark in the heart.
Return to the hotel.
Day 4
Breakfast.
Excursion to the cities of Nerja, Frigiliana and Malaga.
These cities are known for their ancient unique flavor and uniqueness.
Nerja, a town with picturesque nature and beautiful architecture. In Nerja are located: the famous "Balcony of Europe" (Large, natural, observation deck), several ancient cathedrals and an amazingly beautiful aqueduct. Nowadays, there is a large amount of greenery in the city and almost no high-rise buildings. Nerja has beautiful beaches, a large number of bars, clubs, cafes and restaurants with traditional dishes of this region. Also in the town there are many ancient caves. Free time.
Optionally, a visit to the "Cueva de Nerja" caves (entrance tickets for an extra charge).
Next, departure to Frigiliana.
Spanish town surrounded by vineyards. Many houses in the town are located on the slopes of the mountains, and from the town itself offers a beautiful view of the coast.
The main attractions of the city are the Catholic Church of San Antonio (the main temple of Frigiliana) and the Fortress Tower (ruins of the Ell Castilio Arabe fortress).
Wine has been produced in the town since Roman times. Nowadays, the city has a wine museum and shops selling locally produced wines.
Malaga is a large port city with a charming historical center, which can be explored in a day, with modern areas with skyscrapers and large shopping centers. Assumed logically two popular tourist activities follow from here: shopping and walks through winding streets with plenty of greenery and flowers around.
Artist Picasso and actor Banderas were born here, hence the many museums, streets and restaurants and hotels named after the first, the second is simply adored. For the sake of justice, let us indicate two facts: Picasso lived in Malaga only in infancy, but the collection of his works in a new building specially built for this purpose is really very worthy.
Return to the hotel. Rest.
Day 5
Breakfast.
Rest at sea.
In the afternoon, optionally, excursion to Ronda (surcharge 39 €).
City located on the southern coast of Spain.
Ronda is located on two sheer cliffs separated by a narrow and deep gorge El Tajo (gorge depth ~100 m). At the bottom of the gorge flows the Guadalevin River, and in the vicinity lies a picturesque mountain valley, a unique view of which opens from the Puente Nuevo bridge connecting the new and old parts of the city.
One of the main attractions of the city: The oldest bullfighting arena in the world "Plaza de Toros". The arena opened on 19.05.1785 in the presence of persons of the royal dynasty. Santo Domingo Monastery – in the Middle Ages – a stronghold of the Inquisition; Palace of the Moorish King, in Spanish Casa del Rey Moro (built in ~1709).
Free time.
Day 6
Breakfast.
Rest at sea or, optionally, excursion trip to Seville (surcharge 49 €).
Excursion in Seville - the capital of Andalusia. Inspection of the pavilions of the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929. You will see the world's largest Gothic cathedral and the Royal Alcazar Palace. After the excursion to the most beautiful places of the city of Seville: Plaza de España, Maria Luisa Park, Torre del Oro, and the typical Jewish quarter of Santa Cruz.
Free time.
Return to the hotel.
Day 7
Breakfast.
Rest at sea.
In the afternoon, excursion to Cordoba.
Cordoba is a city in Andalusia, the capital of the province of the same name on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. Once, until the 10th century, the city numbered about a million people and was one of the largest, most educated and prosperous cities in Europe. Philosophers, poets and rulers lived here, and people of all cultures and religions walked its streets.
We will begin our walk along the Roman Bridge — the ancient guardian of Cordoba, which observed how the city changed over the centuries. From the bridge opens a beautiful view of the old center, and it seems as if time slows down. Further the road leads to the Synagogue of Cordoba and into the mysterious Jewish Quarter with its narrow streets, white houses and floral courtyards. Here every wall keeps traces of history. A little further — Moorish baths, where you can imagine life in the era of the Caliphate. In Cordoba you will discover many historical sights reflecting the rich past of the city.
But Cordoba is not only stones and streets. It is a city of people whose names are known to the whole world. Based here was philosopher Seneca, whose reflections on resilience and virtue sound today. Thinker Averroes and physician-philosopher Maimonides created here, and later lived poet Luis de Gongora, who glorified Spain in the Golden Age era.
Free time.
After the sightseeing tour, those who wish can visit the main pride of the city — the Mosque-Cathedral (Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba), one of the most amazing architectural monuments in Europe and a symbol of Andalusia, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and recognized as one of the 12 treasures of Spain. This pearl rightfully enters the list of places that are definitely worth seeing at least once in a life (entrance tickets ~ 13 € for an extra charge).
The dimensions of the Mezquita are impressive: the building extends 180 × 130 meters, occupying an area of over 23,000 m². Once it was the second largest mosque in the world after Mecca, and still remains one of the most significant monuments of Islamic architecture in Europe. This place amazes with a combination of Islamic and Christian traditions: the once majestic Umayyad mosque was turned into a cathedral, while preserving the unique features of oriental architecture. Entering inside, you find yourself in a real "forest of columns": hundreds of elegant supports made of marble, jasper and granite support curved white-red arches, creating an endless play of light and shadow. The luxuriously decorated mihrab and openwork domes amaze with the refined beauty and skill of ancient architects.
A visit to the Mezquita is not just an excursion, but an unforgettable journey through the centuries, which leaves a strong emotional impression and a desire to return again.
